Jonas Kaufmann, Tenor

Jonas Kaufmann, Tenor

I heard Jonas Kaufmann sing the other day, and he sure got my attention: Beautiful voice, great phrasing, emphasis in singing with passion, and a very nice ability to produce a lyrical musical interpretation.

In this recording, Jonas Kaufmann sings arias that define opera’s most passionate and vulnerable leading men. We get excerpts from Adriana Lecouvreur, and also from La Boheme, Pagliacci, and Fedora. This album also includes rarities from Zandonai’s dramatic Giulietta e Romeo and from Puccini’s Le Villi.

Supporting Jonas Kaufmann is Italy’s leading symphonic orchestra, the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, under its dynamic music director Antonio Pappano. Both maestro and orchestra are totally at home in this repertoire.

Tracks on this CD are:

1. Giulietta e Romeo / Act 3 – “Giulietta! Son io!”
