Schubert sadness

Schubert Piano Trios

I never tire of Franz Schubert. Be it his Lieder, his Symphonies, string quartets, piano music, whatever! This is the music of angels; the music of deep sadness, yet also the music of consolation, for those who listen to it carefully…

This music is sublime, and beautifully interpreted. I especially enjoyed the warm, mellow sound of Martin Hornstein’s Cello. The Wiener Trio achieves fine balance, excellent presentation, and a fine reading of these masterpieces.

The tracks on these two CD’s are:
Disc 1:

1. Trio B-Dur Op. 99 / D. 898: I. Allegro moderato

2. Trio B-Dur Op. 99 / D. 898: II. Andante un poco mosso

3. Trio B-Dur Op. 99 / D. 898: III. Scherzo, Allegro

4. Trio B-Dur Op. 99 / D. 898: IV. Rondo, Allegro vivace

5. Adagio. Es-Dur Op. posth. 148 / D. 897 – Nocturne

Disc 2:

1. Trio Es-Dur, Op. 100 / D. 929: I. Allegro

2. Trio Es-Dur, Op. 100 / D. 929: II. Andante con moto

3. Trio Es-Dur, Op. 100 / D. 929: II. Scherzando, Allegro moderato

4. Trio Es-Dur, Op. 100 / D. 929: IV. Allegro moderato

5. Sonata – Allegro B- Dur, D. 28
