Goerner’s Chopin

Goerner’s Chopin

Chopin: Piano Works

Nelson Goerner has his own excellent way of interpreting Chopin, and he shows it here in a varied recital program ranging from major works like the famous B minor Sonata, through the Nocturne number 13, and to the F minor Ballade.

I like the fact that the selections are so diverse, opposed to being a recording of, say, all the Chopin Mazurkas…

The specific selections on this recording are:

Chopin:

  • Piano Sonata No. 3 in B minor, Op. 58
  • Polonaise No. 7 in A flat major, Op. 61 ‘Polonaise-fantaisie’
  • Nocturne No. 13 in C minor, Op. 48 No. 1
  • Scherzo No. 4 in E major, Op. 54
  • Barcarolle in F sharp major, Op. 60
  • Ballade No. 4 in F minor, Op. 52

Here is Mr. Goerner playing Schubert’s Klavierstücke

And next, here he is performing the F. Chopin Ballad in G-minor op. 23

And I’ll end with his playing the F. Chopin Nocturne c-minor op. 48 no. 1:
