Puccini’s Tosca

Puccini:

  • Tosca

Angela Gheorghiu is known for her beautiful voice and her stage presence that dazzles when she’s cast in operatic roles. Here she’s seen in her role as Tosca, at the Royal Opera House in July 2011.

Puccini’s ever-popular opera, Tosca, returned to The Royal Opera House, where the stellar cast included the following:

Angela Gheorghiu (Tosca), Jonas Kaufmann (Cavaradossi), Bryn Terfel (Scarpia), Lukas Jakobski (Angelotti), Jeremy White (Sacristan), Hubert Francis (Spoletta), ZhengZhong Zhou (Sciarrone)

The singers are supported by the Orchestra and Chorus of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano.

As the attendees tell it, it is no exaggeration to say that the two performances of Tosca at the Royal Opera House in July 2011 – with Angela Gheorghiu, Jonas Kaufmann and Bryn Terfel as the leads – were opera history in the making.

Here is an extract of one of the performances:
