Jazz for You–

How about some Jazz?

Early this morning I listened to singer Kiri Te Kanawa, as she performed with one great musician, Andre Previn. I know Ms. Te Kanawa mostly from her Opera career, and from her amazing performances under the direction of conductor Georg Solti. This morning, however, I enjoyed her so much singing in a different style!

Andre Previn was born in Berlin, and for a significant period of his life he was a Jazz musician. Later on he started to conduct classical music, and also became a composer.

There are times when a certain “chemistry” emerges between performers; and then we, the listeners, are so much richer for it. This – for me — is the case with Kiri and Andre.

Listen now to some of what I heard this morning, and enjoy this music, too:

Here now is Kiri Te Kanawa, as she sings “Cute” with pianist Andre Previn:

And next, Kiri Te Kanawa sings “The Second Time Around” with Andre Previn at the piano:

Finally, here is Kiri Te Kanawa singing “Teach Me Tonight” with Andre Previn and Ray Brown:
