Brahms’ Clarinet.

Brahms:

The 20-year-old clarinetist Raphaël Sévère, and pianist Adam Laloum demonstrate that in the burnished colors of these sonatas, the composer chose the clarinet to bid a melancholy farewell to the world.

Cellist Victor Julien-Laferrière joins them for the wonderful Trio Op.114, also by Johannes Brahms.

As such, these three musician friends collaborate on this recording for a program devoted to Johannes Brahms’ musical creations.

Brahms:

  • Clarinet Sonata No. 1 in F minor, Op. 120 No. 1
  • Clarinet Sonata No. 2 in E flat major, Op. 120 No. 2
  • Clarinet Trio in A minor, Op. 114, with Julien-Laferrière (cello)

Performed by Adam Laloum (piano) and Raphaël Sévère (clarinet), and Victor Julien-Laferrière, Cello.
