A Rising Star

Pianist Khatia Buniatishvili.

And you say “Khatia WHO?” Pianist Khatia Buniatishvili is one of the fastest-rising young pianists of recent years, and I am learning more about her. What I like most is that there is a maturity to her as an artist, and that she has used creative ways to attract attention to her performances.

On one of her recent CD’s, we get to hear Ms. Buniatishvili with violinist Renaud Capuçon in the following works: Antonin Dvorak:

  • Romantic Pieces (4) for Violin & Piano, Op. 75

Cesar Franck:

  • Violin Sonata in A major

Grieg:

  • Violin Sonata No. 3 in C minor, Op. 45

Here is Khatia Buniatishvili in her latest recording, titled “Motherland”:

And next, here she is in her video: “A Faustian Dream”:

Finally, here is Khatia in Grieg’s piano Concerto:

I predict that we will hear a lot more from Ms. Buniatishvili in the years to come.
