The Berlin Philharmonic in Tokyo:

In this live DVD recording from Japan, the Berliner Philharmoniker performed under the direction of Mariss Jansons.

The recording was made at Tokyo’s Suntory Hall, and it features a program of Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No. 1, with soloist Hilary Hahn.

There are three additional works: Bach encore, Weber’s charming Overture to Oberon, and Dvorák’s Eighth Symphony.

Bach, J S:

Dvorak:

  • Symphony No. 8 in G major, Op. 88

Shostakovich:

Hilary Hahn is a two-time Grammy Award-winning soloist. She is celebrated for her excellent interpretations, technical precision, and impressive stage presence.
