Carmen!

When you get two extraordinary singers like Elīna Garanča and Roberto Alagna in one performance hall, that’s likely to create dramatic excitement and fine music.

Elīna Garanča takes on the title role in “Carmen,” by Georges Bizet, heading a cast that also features Ailyn Pérez, in the role of Micaëla, Roberto Alagna, as Don José, and Gábor Bretz, as Escamillo.

The conductor is Louis Langrée, whom I have always admired as the “Mostly Mozart” music director.
