Borodin plays Shostakovich

  Shostakovich:

  • String Quartets Nos. 1, 8 and 14.

The original Borodin Quartet was founded in 1945 in the Soviet Union and this release marks the Quartet’s 70th anniversary. They enjoyed a close relationship with Mr. Shostakovich, and often worked with him as a new quartet was written.

We get to listen to the following selections: Shostakovich:

  • Two Pieces for String Quartet (Elegy & Polka)

Performed by the Borodin String Quartet.

The current quartet has some new members, yet it still bears the characteristic Borodin sound.
