This 4th installment of the complete String Quartets by Schubert presents one of the most famous string quartets ever written: the Quartet in D minor “Der Tod und das Mädchen” (Death and the Maiden), one of Schubert’s saddest and most powerful works, which is Beethoven-like in structure and scope, yet pure Schubert in its passion and poetry.

  • String Quartet No. 6 in D major, D74
  • Minuet in D major, D86
