Klenke Quartet Performs:

Franz Schubert:

  • String Quartet No. 12 in C minor (fragment), D703 ‘Quartettsatz
  • String Quartet No. 13 in A minor, D804 ‘Rosamunde’
  • String Quartet No. 4 in C major, D46

Performed by the Klenke Quartett.

These performers all graduated from the Franz Liszt Academy in Weimar, Germany.

Annegret Klenke – first violin
Beate Hartmann – second violin
Yvonne Uhlemann – viola
Ruth Kaltenhäuser – cello

The four women of the Klenke Quartet offer excellent quartet art in their new CD. With it, they confirm the critical acclaim and international prizes that they have received lately.

The performers span a broad arch here, and not only through the program, which ranges from early Schubert up to his mature Rosamunde Quartet – in this particular line-up the power of this music unfolds in a very special way.

The ensemble’s performance is energetic without being brash, beautiful sounding without being heavy, and clear without being analytical. This recording represents an intense and extremely rewarding experience for chamber music lovers!

Let me illustrate:

Here is the Klenke Quartett in Schubert’s String Quartet No. 4 in C Major, D. 46: II. Andante con moto

The sounds are beautifully matched, and the phrasing is totally compatible.

And next, here they are in Mozart’s lovely Streichquartett C-Dur KV 465, Menuett:

Very nice playing!
