Michelangeli’s Magic.

Michelangeli’s Magic.

I listened to pianist Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli today. Seemed like I stopped breathing…

While this amazing pianist did not have a very large repertoire, what he did perform was totally astounding.

When he plays, he seems like a ballet dancer. Every move seems pre-planned and supremely elegant. Every sound is matched to the associated sounds. Even when the man removes some perspiration from his hands and face, his movements are slow, deliberate and almost non-human…

Watch here he plays Claude Debussy’s Images I & II. Watch and see if you can notice what I wrote above regarding his movements. Twenty seven music of this man’s magic!
