Uchida Conducts.

Uchida conducts and performs.

As a young girl, Mitsuko Uchida and her family lived in Vienna, Austria, where her father was Japan’s Ambassador. And Ms. Uchida was right in the heart of Mozart’s old world, where she studied piano.

On this recording we get to hear another installment in Uchida’s much-admired and Grammy-Award-winning Mozart piano concerto series with the Cleveland Orchestra.

This live recording combines the B flat major, Number 18, K456 and the F major, Number 19, K459, both part of the great series of piano concertos Mozart wrote in Vienna in the mid-1780s

Like the composer at the premieres, Uchida conducts this performance from the keyboard and enjoys an unusual rapport with one of America’s great orchestras.
