Artistic Collaboration

Schumann and Berg:

On this recording, two great artists at the peak of their powers, the soprano Dorothea Röschmann and the pianist Mitsuko Uchida perform songs by Schumann (Liederkreis, Op 39 and ‘Frauenliebe und Leben’) and Alban Berg (Seven Early Songs). We get to hear the following:

  • Sieben frühe Lieder (Seven early songs)

Schumann:

Performed by Dorothea Röschmann, soprano, and Mitsuko Uchida, piano.

The album features three great song cycles on the subject of love and life. Robert Schumann’s great love for Clara Wieck is at the heart of his “Liederkreis”.

Schumann described this music in a letter to Clara as his “most romantic music ever, with much of you in it.”

The recording artists toured this program extensively and this performance was captured live at Wigmore Hall in London.
