Luciano Berio’s ‘Luftklavier’

For the very first time today, I listened to a small section of Berio’s so-called “Luftklavier”. I find the title of the piece to be quite innovative. In German it means ‘Air Piano’.

My sense is that it is intended as an encore selection, perhaps after sitting through a lengthy musical performance, when the audience needs some “relief”.

I heard this pice played by a pianist whose work I am just getting to know further. I enjoy his playing. His name is Andreas Haefliger.
