Composer Frederic Chopin was born on March 1, 1810. I love his music, and I also greatly admire the performer on this recording, pianist Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli.
My personal preference is for diversity in music. And this DVD allows the listener to hear a Chopin Sonara, Scherzo, Mazurka, and Waltzes, all played by one incredible performer.
These are live performances, and on occasion during a slow section I noticed that I was forgetting to breathe. On the other hand, when the Grande Polonaise started I was caught up in the elegance of Chopin’s dance rhythms and was picturing in my mind a European ball from the 1800’s.
