My father (Z/L) was a great Mahler enthusiast. However, during my childhood during the War years he was totally unable to attend any concerts at all. Occasionally he would talk with me about his favorite Mahler work titled “Das Lied Von der Erde” (The song of the earth).
This piece, is a highly moving composition for two singers and orchestra, based on Chinese poems by Li Tai Po. This work will be performed by the San Francisco Symphony conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas at:
