Harnoncourt Conducts Haydn and Mozart

Conductor Nikolaus Harnoncourt died a few months ago. This recording demonstrates his conducting abilities via three religious works:

Haydn:

  • The Seasons, recorded live at the Salzburg Festival, July 2013, with Dorothea Röschmann (soprano), Michael Schade (tenor), Florian Boesch (baritone), supported by the Wiener Philharmoniker, Konzertvereingung Wiener Staatsopernchor

Mozart:

  • Missa Longa in C major K262, recorded live at the Salzburg Festival, July 2012, with Sylvia Schwartz (soprano), Elisabeth von Magnus (mezzo), Jeremy Ovenden (tenor), Florian Boesch (baritone), and the Concertus Musicus Wien, and the Arnold Schoenberg Choir.
  • Litaniae de venerabili altaris sacramento, K243, recorded live at the Salzburg Festival, July 2012, with Sylvia Schwartz (soprano), Elisabeth von Magnus (mezzo), Jeremy Ovenden (tenor), Florian Boesch (baritone), and the Concertus Musicus Wien, and the Arnold Schoenberg Choir, with Nikolaus Harnoncourt conducting.
