Stravinsky’s “Firebird”.

 

 

Igor Stravinsky:

The Firebird is an exciting one-hour dance special based on the mystical Russian folk tale of enchantment and love, set to Stravinsky’s fantastic ballet score.

The performers are as follows:

Greta Hodgkinson, Aleksandar Antonijevic (Prince Ivan), Rebekah Rimsay (Princess Vasilisa) and Rex Harrington (Kastchei the Demon), with The Kirov Orchestra and National Ballet of Canada, Valery Gergiev conducting.

This adaption of James Kudelka’s masterpiece for the stage, combines a classical ballet performance with amazing visual effects.

The Firebird features the top dancers from the internationally renowned National Ballet of Canada and the soloists include Greta Hodgkinson (nominated for the Prix Benois de la Danse in 2000) as the main role, Aleksandar Antonijevic as Prince Ivan, Rebekah Rimsay as Princess Vasilisa, and the unforgettable Rex Harrington as Kastchei the Demon.

The music is performed by The Kirov Orchestra, conducted by Valery Gergiev.
