Christiane Karg

Karg-Christiane-01 Christiane Karg, Soprano. I last wrote about this marvelous singer on August 1, 2014; I almost feel that I neglected her. However, this Bavarian-born singer is able to hold her own, based on the excellence of her performances.

Ms. Karg has a velvety, expressive, and multi-colored voice. I have heard her sing many Lieder by Richard Strauss, and she has also appeared in Operas all over the world.

During the 2015-16 season, Christiane Karg will make her debut in San Francisco. The expected program might be Schubert, Schumann, or Strauss. Not so for Ms. Karg. Her program will feature songs by French, Italian, and Spanish composers.

I will alert you, once her concert in San Francisco comes closer; it is in the Spring of next year. Meanwhile… Here is W.A. Mozart’s “Vesperae solennes de confessore” as performed by Christiane Karg (soprano):   https://youtu.be/FwJBMryeULU And next, here she is in one of my favorite songs by Richard Strauss: “Ständchen”, op. 17, Nr. 2 as performed by Christiane Karg, with Malcolm Martineau, piano:   https://youtu.be/KdAaC09fnro
