Pianist Shani Diluka

    Franz Schubert:

Many world-class pianists have performed Schubert’s Sonata #21. I, for one, never get tired of it. So I am curious how a pianist who is not known to me would handle this music. On this CD, pianist Shani Diluka guides us through these works by Schubert and offers us an interpretation shifting between shadows and light, as she performs some of the Viennese composer’s finest pieces. We hear the following selections: Schubert:

  • Piano Sonata No. 21 in B flat major, D960
  • 12 Deutsche Ländler
  • Hungarian Melody in B minor D817

Performed by Shani Diluka, piano. Exploring the musical folklore so dear to his heart in the form of the Austrian ländler and waltzes, right up to the last notes of the Sonata in B flat, Schubert and Diluka take us from the simplest musical language to the innermost reaches of the soul.
