Martha’s Music…

Martha’s Music…

If you have read other Posts in this Blog, you already know that Martha Argerich is one of my favorite pianists.

This 3-CD set celebrates the results of a project in which young artists join experienced performers, including Ms. Argerich, in the exploration of wide-ranging chamber music and orchestral repertoire. These CDs, recorded in the summer of 2010, are being released in anticipation of the Lugano Festival’s 2011 season.

Ms. Argerich has created amazing chamber music partnerships with established and emerging artists. She is well-known for her technical mastery, her lyrical playing, and her passionate artistry; and she possesses an infectious spirit that inspired her own performances as well as those of her colleagues and protégés.

This set of recordings features not only the breathtaking Martha Argerich, but also an exciting assembly of classical stars and newly – emerging talent including Gautier Capuçon, Renaud Capuçon and Gabriela Montero.

Martha Argerich was born in Buenos Aires. From the age of five, she took piano lessons with Vicenzo Scaramuzza. In 1955 she went to Europe with her family, and received instruction from Friedrich Gulda in Vienna; her teachers also included Nikita Magaloff and Stefan Askenase.

This is another stunning CD collection by Ms. Argerich and friends to be issued as an Audio CD on March 29, 2011
