Evgeny Kissin

Beethoven: Piano Concertos Nos. 2 & 5

What can I say? I am crazy about Mr. Kissin as a performer! Hard to believe that he’s now in his 40’s; I recall the seemingly shy young man emerging into the public limelight and setting the world on fire with all the technical fireworks and the great feeling and emotion in his playing.

On this CD we get the following:

  • Piano Concerto No. 2 in B flat major, Op. 19
  • Piano Concerto No. 5 in E flat major, Op. 73 ‘Emperor’

Performed by Evgeny Kissin (piano), with the Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by James Levine

Here is Mr. Kissin in a rehearsal of the Beethoven concerto #5 with conductor Sir Colin Davis

And here he is playing Beethoven’s piano concerto no.1
