The tenor Stephen Costell brings charm and great singing to the role of the Duke in this famous opera by Giuseppe Verdi.
Olga Peretyatko’s Gilda is the warm, sweet daughter, but it is George Gagnidze who is at the heart of the show, showing us his amazing baritone to create a surprisingly sensitive Rigoletto.
The conductor is Pablo Heras-Casado, and he conducts the score’s fierce drama, at times trading its sheer beauty for something more thrilling.
