February DVD of the Month: Grigory Sokolov

I listened to this amazing pianist again last night. What more can I say than he is one phenomenal pianist. As such, he is the DVD of the Month for February, 2017.

This completely sold out concert was filmed at the Philaharmonie Berlin, which is known for its exquisite acoustics.

In the director’s notes to this new Sokolov film, We read:

“Sokolov himself believes that the concert represents the focal point of musical life and that everything else is artificial. As a result, he is not only reluctant to be recorded but also to be filmed…”
