Barenboim: The Coach, the Teacher

Daniel Barenboim is one amazing musician for whom I have great admiration. I enjoy reading his writings, and it is particularly enjoyable to watch him, as he coaches promising younger pianists. Producing a particualr sound on a modern piano involves a whole lot more than just depressing the correct key. The composer of any piece of music instructs the interpreter with general guidelines. Itmis the pianists role to come as close as possible to playing the music in the style and manner that the composer wanted.
