Fischer’s Vivaldi

Vivaldi: The Four Seasons / Julia Fischer Violin / The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields

This morning I was listening again to Vivaldi’s perennial favorite, The Four Seasons. Specifically, I heard “Summer”. And the interpretation by violinist Julia Fischer was really excellent. She showed us a terrific feeling for this music, a fine musical expressiveness, and a strong technical skill. Also impressive was the accompaniment by the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields.

There are images on this DVD of the ever changing seasons, filmed at the National Botanic Garden of Wales, with shots of Julia Fischer and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, in the garden’s futuristic glass dome by Norman Foster.
