Freiburg’s Concertos

J.S. Bach:

  • Violin Concertos BWV1041-1043

This is a fine recording which brings together two amazing forces: the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, and the performers of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra.

Let me start with a few samples from my Spotify file, called “Hank’s Freiburg Baroque”:

The music on this CD features the following:

Bach, J S:

  • Violin Concerto No. 1 in A minor, BWV1041
  • Violin Concerto No. 2 in E major, BWV1042
  • Concerto for Two Violins in D minor, BWV1043
  • Concerto for 3 violins, strings & continuo in D major (reconstruction), BWV 1064R

Performed by Petra Müllejans, Gottfried von der Goltz, Katherine Schreiber (violins), with the Freiburger Barockorchester

Bach’s three well-known violin concertos are joined here by the amazing Concerto for three violins BWV1064. Listen to the dazzling firework display under the bows of the matchless violinists of the Freiburger Barockorchester.

Freiburger Barockorchester celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2012. This ensemble’s schedule shows a diverse repertoire played at leading concert halls and opera houses, ranging from the Baroque to the contemporary and from Freiburg to the Far East.

Here is a video of the Freiburg Baroque orchestra, performing Johann Sebastian Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos, BWV 1046, 1047, 1048, 1049, and more

And next, here they are with Mozart’s Piano concerto no. 17 in G major, KV. 453:
