Four Compositions – Four Pianos

uAs a music lover, I often listen to music that was conceived 100-300 years ago. Yet the instruments on which this music is performed are frequently 5-20 years old.

On this new recording, pianist Alexander Melnikov imagined this program where four monuments from the piano repertoire are interpreted in their original instrumental environment. The four pianos chosen have characteristics corresponding to those of the instruments on which these virtuoso pieces were first performed.

This is a journey where the horizons of sounds expand to amazing new heights.

We hear music by Schubert, Chopin, Liszt, and Stravinsky.
