Mehta Conducts Two Masterpieces

On this recording, Zubin Mehta and his Israel Philharmonic Orchestra perform two great masterpieces of the classical repertoire, Schubert’s Symphony No.9 “The Great” and Mozart’s Symphony No.38 “Prague”.

Helicon is the label of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra whose chief conductor has been Zubin Mehta since 1977. This disc joins two masterpieces of the orchestral repertoire: the last fully classical of Mozart’s symphonies (no. 38) and the last symphony by Schubert, the triumph of the romantic sensitivity. Mehta and IPO ravish the listener in both cases, enhancing the specific features of each symphony structure and atmosphere.
