Two Great Violinists of the Past

These two people grew up in different parts of the world. One was born in New York, and the other in Russia. Ultimately it was only a matter of time until they would meet.

Yehudi Menuhin (On the left in the photo below) became a world renowned violinist, and hs family moved to San Francisco. Some years passed, and violinist David Oistrakh began to give concerts in the West. Finally these two men met, and at first they had some difficulty communicating. Soon they discovered that their common religion could help out. Both were born into Jewish homes, and they began to communicate in Yiddish, which is an old language that emerged in Europe from Hebrew and German roots.
