Violin Sonatas by Bach, Haydn, and Mozart

The youngest composer on this recording is just barely eight years old, and the oldest is over sixty.

When Joseph Haydn wrote a Sonata for violin and piano in Vienna or London in the early 1790s, it became the only one in his huge collection of works.

Even Mozart’s early Sonata in G Major (K. 9) went beyond the conventional models of the time.

Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach already composed for violin and harpsichord under the supervision of his father. Among the works on this program, his music is informed by the gallant style of the court of Potsdam.

Violinist Ulla Bundies and pianist Taiji Takata appeared together for the first time in 2009 in Japan, performing since then as a duo. Violinist Ulla Bundies has been musical advisor of the Telemann Chamber Orchestra in Osaka since 2010, and Taiji Takata studied in Germany with Christine Schornsheim and Andreas Staier.
