It is amazing how two people from different cultures can come together with little familiarity with one another’s language.
The solution is, of course, their common love of music.
It turned out that Richter knew and loved several of Britten’s compositions; and they both were excellent pianists, so they got together and played Mozart’s Sonata K 448 for piano Four Hands.
I smiled while they were playing! If we could get entire countries to build such joy together!!
