The Ivalas Quartet will present a virtual concert from their home base in Boulder Colorado tomorrow, Sunday, November 8th, at 1:00 PM Mountain Standard Time. (Scroll to the bottom for additional details).

The members of the Ivalas Quartet have as a mission to feature diverse programing. As such, their program for Sunday is as follows:

Samuel Coleridge Taylor:
Fantasiestucke for string quartet op. 5 in five movements
(This is an early, student work by the composer)

George Walker:
String quartet no. 1  (2nd movement)
(This composition was initially known as “the Lyric”, and it is to some extent patterned after the Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber)

Ludwig van Beethoven:
String Quartet op. 127 1st movement
(This music is one of the late quartets by Beethoven; it was selected to reflect the Museum’s exhibition of late work by Clifford Still)

The Ivalas Quartet is composed of violinists Reuben Kebede and Anita Dumar, violist Aimée McAnulty, and cellist Pedro Sánchez. Ivalas has performed with artists such as the Calidore String Quartet, Imani Winds, Danielle Belen, David Ying, and Patricia Terry-Ross.

Recently awarded first prize in the 2019 WDAV Young Artists Chamber Music Competition, the quartet also took first prize at the 2018 Briggs Chamber Music Competition and was named a semifinalist group at both the M-Prize competition and Concert Artists Guild competition in New York.
