Robert Schumann composed the original version of his Fantasiestuecke for Cello and piano. I have previously heard and enjoyed the arrangement of this music for viola and piano.
Today I heard another version for Clarinet and piano that was also quite excellent. It reminded me of the Brahms clarinet Sonatas.
