Franz Schubert died at age 31. Yet he was able to leave us about 600 songs scored for voice and piano. These actually began as poems by several different poets.
In one such case the poet speaks about what music has meant to him. He reflects on the relief that music has brought him during dark periods; the poet then writes that the music has transported the reader-listener into “Eine Bessere Welt” (A better world)
Schubert was quite ill during the final years of his short life. Yet it was the sounds of music that brought him the badly-needed relief.
